Start of the land trip from Cusco to Santa Maria: 05:00 a.m. “4 and a half hours of travel”

The vehicular trip is through the Sacred Valley, passing through the traditional towns of Ollantaytambo, the pass of Malaga, and then descending towards the cloudy forest of Carrizales, Huiro, etc.; Upon arrival in Santa Maria, we head to the left looking for the start of the Amazon Inca Trail to start our adventure of walking through the Amazon of Cusco, we walk for about 3 hours and then re-board our vehicle and continue with the trip to Santa Teresa. DAY 2

Santa Teresa – Lucmabamba – Aguas Calientes

We board a local vehicle to get to Lucmabamba very early in the morning, “50 minutes of travel.” Lucmabamba presents original relics of the Inca Trail. Turn towards the Aobamba valley and see Machu Picchu in the distance from the Llactapata viewpoint. Walking through Lucmabamba is within the cloud forest vegetation. Arriving at the hydroelectric station in the afternoon, we follow the train track heading to Aguas Calientes.

DAY 3

Aguas Calientes – Short Inca Trail – Aguas Calientes

We start the walk from the town of Aguas Calientes following the railway until we reach km 104; at km 104, we have official control of the Inca Trail network; we present our passports to enter the sanctuary of Machu Picchu and continue with the ascent walk until we reach the Inca constructions of Wiñaywayna and Inti Punku, from the Intipunku we have exceptional views of the Inca citadel, in the afternoon we board the bus service to the town of Aguas Calientes to spend the night for the second consecutive night before exploring the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu.

If you choose this lovely tour to visit Machu Picchu, do not forget to bring adequate clothing for the hikes. Also, bring bathing clothes and a towel to enjoy the thermal baths of Cocalmayo on the first day in the afternoon.
