Travel Guide

Before the Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days

It would be best if you did not forget for any reason: sun hat, sunglasses, sunblock, insect repellent, all this at any time of the year. If you come from November to March, in the rainy season, you should also bring a waterproof jacket or rain poncho and appropriate mountaineering boots. Also, for the higher parts of the tour, you should bring thick winter clothing, gloves, a scarf, and a wool hat.

Assume you will not have electric power available for the first three days, so your electronic devices should be 100% charged. You can bring spare batteries or portable solar-powered chargers. Do not overweight your backpack; pack the essentials.

Attend the guide’s orientation talk (briefing) the night before the Machu Picchu tour, and respect the tourism rules in the citadel. Stay constantly hydrated with non-carbonated bottled water. Please read the itinerary of the Lares-Machu Picchu Picchu trek.

During the Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days

Have snacks such as cookies, energy bars, chocolates, fruits, water, etc., available to replenish your energy and take away hunger between meals. But don’t forget to bring small plastic bags for waste. Our country has a policy of conservation of ecological and cultural heritage.

The walking pace is average, with established rest intervals, but you can rest at any time; a staff member will accompany you to join the group later. Using a walking stick is of enormous help; it will give you more balance and thrust, resulting in energy savings. We rent them at reasonable prices. One of the best tips is to bring coca tea; it is a natural and harmless way to provide mental and physical energy and overcome the effects of altitude.

The temperature will increase as we get closer to Machu Picchu, so have your sunscreen and insect repellent ready. Otherwise, warm up when necessary and enjoy the excellent geography and fauna of the Andean highlands of Cusco and all the other attractions of the Lares 4 days tour.

Tips during your visit to Machu Picchu Sanctuary

One of our mandatory tips is to comply with the rules governing tours in and around the citadel. The guide will inform you about all this the night before. Above all, do not damage the ruins or the complex grounds; use sneakers or boots with soft soles and no spikes.

Our guide will be ready to answer any questions you may have. If you wish, we have as an additional option the Huayna Picchu hike (the highest Mountain in the citadel); you must book it before starting the Lares 4 days tour.

After your Lares Trek to Machu Picchu 4 Days

After an unforgettable experience as you hike the magical Andean heights, you may wish to continue experiencing the Cusco region’s thrills. You may want to continue with the adventure, and our tips are a trip to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, trekking to the 7 Colors Mountain, and an excursion to the Humantay Lagoon. Or else go to the paradisiacal Altiplano region: Puno and Lake Titicaca.

Our website has all the information about our excellent tour packages and many additional articles that will help you plan a great vacation.
