We start in Cusco with the trip to Capuliyoc to start the walk to the Apurimac canyon; After visiting Choquequirao, we return along the same trails to reach Capuliyoc and Cusco.
BRIEFING Choquequirao Trek 4 Days
Please note that you must attend the pre-hike briefing at 6:00 p.m. the day before the first day of the hike. We organize the informative talk at the hotel reception where travelers stay.

Faqs Choquequirao Trek 4 Days
What is the best time to do The Choquequirao Trek 4 Days?
The best time to go is from May to December; you can avoid the rainy season since it is difficult to walk with muddy boots, but it is more pleasant to see everything green so that you can do it at any time of the year but with a tour operator.
Can you do the Choquequirao Trek 4 Days alone?
Of course. Take a bus from Cusco to Cachora and spend the night there to leave the next day. The route is simple and easy to navigate—a little advice: It is best to start the walk in Cachora or Huancara.
The route to Cachora is more popular as it is cheaper but longer. Getting to Santa Rosa (Camp 2) can be very tiring, as it takes about 10 hours to get there at a brisk pace. A good alternative is to spend the night in Chiquisca (1st camp) before crossing the river.
The sun goes down, and night falls, so it is better to camp early and leave early in the morning not to feel the heat and fatigue on the way there or back.
How complex are Choquequirao Trek 4 Days?
The Choquequirao trek remains one of the most memorable experiences in the world. Still, physically it is more vital than any other Cusco route; 166 kilometers above 4600 meters of altitude is quite a physical challenge, especially if you decide to do the eight days in Machu Picchu, between which you have to cross two steps of 4600 men.
We believe you need not be an experienced hiker to make this trip, but we recommend hiring an additional horse and efficiently completing this Machu Picchu challenge.
Are the canes necessary for Choquequirao Trek 4 Days?
Trekking poles are recommended, especially for passengers with known knee problems.
Trekking poles often come in handy, whether climbing a mountain or walking rugged trails.
Is altitude sickness common? And how high is Choquequirao?
It is impossible to predict who will be affected by altitude.
It depends on each person. The results are different, and it has little to do with his physical condition or health. Most people will not have any problems if they take the time to acclimatize properly.
Will I need extra money?
If needed, you will enter the hot springs (10 soles) or the Conoc hot springs, in addition to tips for the trekking staff, souvenirs, snacks in Machu Picchu, mineral water, drinks, etc. You must take with you at least 300 soles as emergency money.
Travel Guide
Choquequirao vs. Machu Picchu
They say that comparisons are odious and, besides, it is very complicated to compare both. The best thing to do is to visit the two sisters and decide for yourself.
On the one hand, it must be said that Machu Picchu is much more accessible, even though it can take almost a day to get there. While for Choquequirao, we have already seen what it entails.
In Machu Picchu’s favor, there is much more documentation and information about the site, making us learn much more.
However, Choquequirao is an adventure—travel versus tourism.
Our experience in Machu Picchu is that there are too many people, which turns a vital experience into a bit of hell. Did you know that the number of people that go to Machu Picchu in a day is the number of people that go to Choquequirao in a year? That’s about 30 people a day…I’ll leave it at that.
While Machu Picchu is practically excavated, Choquequirao still has 70% to be discovered, allowing us to imagine what it would have been like and its potential.
Anyway, both sisters are different, both incredible, so take the opportunity to experience the Inca ruins in two different ways.
